WHERE

Clos des Lambrays Grand Cru, Morey-Saint-Denis, Côte de Nuits, Burgundy

The Clos des Lambrays is one of Burgundy's most storied single vineyards — first documented in 1365 in the archives of the Abbey of Cîteaux, among the oldest on record in France. The site covers 8.84 hectares behind a centuries-old stone wall in Morey-Saint-Denis. Domaine des Lambrays owns 8.66 of those hectares — a near-monopole rivaled in Burgundy only by Romanée-Conti, La Tâche, and Clos de Tart. Acquired by LVMH in 2014, winemaker Thierry Brouin has overseen the cellars for over 35 years, maintaining a style built on elegance over power. Three micro-terroirs within the Clos — Les Larrets, Les Bouchots, and Le Meix-Rentier — are blended into a single wine of extraordinary complexity.

The 2010 Burgundy vintage is one of the finest in a generation — cool, long, and precise, producing wines of exceptional structure and longevity. This bottle is drinking beautifully now but has the bones to continue for another decade or more. Black cherry, blood orange, woodsmoke, peonies, and violets on the nose. Deep and pure on the palate, with suave tannins, focused acidity, and a finish that does not end. Decant for at least an hour.
