The Italian Countess and wine producer, Noemi Marone Cinzano, and the prestigious Danish winemaker, Hans Vinding-Diers, teamed up to produce some of the finest wines in Argentina. Upon the discovery of an old Malbec vineyard in Patagonia's Rio Negro Valley decided to restore the old vines back to life and see what they could do- purchasing the small property and eventually vinifying a small batch, just for fun. The wine was bottled, brought by chance to a famous wine fair and gained immediate acclaim. Noemi and Hans settled there for a bit and gave the project a real go…it's worked out very well.
The vineyard consists of 1.5 hectares, with vines planted in 1932; they are of the pre-phylloxera period, pie franco and massale selection (original rootstock ungrafted). Each vine is genetically distinct, contrary to those that are cloned. The vineyard is divided into 4 plots and each plot is managed independently and fermented separately in four open french oak fermenters that were specially customized by the Surtep Tonnellier.
The wine has panache, distinction, and the ability to stick around for a good long time. It regularly shows up in lists of some of the top wines being made in the world.
