Biodynamic -
A nearly-lost Austro-Hungarian grape, brought back by hand. Layered and strange in the best way — hay, almond, lime blossom, and dried stone fruit, with a fresh, elegant finish. Unlike anything else on the shelf.
750 ML
WHAT
100% Hárslevelű — known in Austria as Lindenblättriger, "linden leaf." One of the great white grapes of Tokaji, it all but vanished from Austria after 1921. Birgit replanted it herself: 490 vines in 2014, another 490 the following year. Hand-harvested, brief skin contact, spontaneous fermentation, stainless steel.
WHERE
Carnuntum, Austria
WHEN
2022
WHO
Birgit Wiederstein took over her family's estate in Göttlesbrunn in 2002 and farms it biodynamically, still foot-stomping some of the fruit. She has made it her business to resurrect the region's forgotten varieties. The wine is named for "An Anna Blume," the 1919 Kurt Schwitters Dada poem — a send-up of the sappy love poetry of the day, which ends: Anna Blume, du tropfes Tier, ich liebe dir!
