90% Sangiovese Grosso with 5% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Petit Verdot
WHERE
Casanova di Neri was started in the Cerretalto vineyard, located in a natural amphitheater overlooking the Asso River in Tuscany's commune of Montalcino. This area was previously thought less desirable for growing Sangiovese Grosso because of its cooler climate, but it was what Giovanni New could afford at the time and so he forged ahead with his project and consciously harvested lower yields in order to maintain quality. With climate change bringing overall warmer weather, cooler vintages are no longer a concern.
