Massimo Rattalino built his reputation on Nebbiolo — Barbaresco and Barolo are the heart of the estate's identity. But producers who obsess over Nebbiolo tend to make exceptional Barbera too, because the same rigour applies: precise vineyard work, careful hand selection of fruit, traditional large-barrel aging over barrique, no compromises for the sake of easy approachability.
This Barbera d'Alba is exactly that. Rich, dark-fruited, and spiced, with the lively natural acidity that makes Barbera such a versatile table wine. Sweet red cherry and plum, sweet spice, tobacco, and a long, clean finish. It has the structure to handle a proper meal and the freshness to keep you coming back through the bottle.
Open it with pasta al ragù, braised pork, roast chicken, or a good hard cheese. One of the best-value bottles from one of Barbaresco's most dedicated producers.
